COVID- 19: Extension of Lay-off Benefits and Additional Extraordinary Leave
An extension of five (5) weeks of lay-off benefits due to the COVID- 19 emergency effective from February 23 to August 31, 2020, in addition to the nine (9) weeks already approved. The previous lay-off benefits will have to have been exhausted to be able to use the extension. A further period of four (4) weeks can be used from September 1 to October 31, 2020. For people employed in tourism, fairs and conventions, amusement parks, live entertainment shows or the movie industry, the four weeks can begin before September 1st .
The days of extraordinary leave granted because of the COVID- 19 emergency to parents of children up to age 12 also increase: an additional 30 days, instead of the original 15, to be used from March 5 to July 31, 2020. Private sectors employees will be paid 50% of their salary during the extraordinary leave. You can apply if you have not already asked for the baby-sitting voucher, and if one of the parents is unemployed, not working at the moment or the recipient of income support measures.
