The Italian Government to combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) has implemented a set of measures that must be respected by everyone. In this section which will be regularly updated, all details of the rules to be complied with.

The materials of the institutional campaign dedicated to school staff, families and students to accompany the resumption of lessons and encourage the adoption of new habits to be respected.

TAKE YOUR TEMPERATURE
Do it every day before you go out. If your temperature is higher than 37,5°C or you have Covid-19-like symptoms, stay at home and call the doctor.

WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN
And use hand sanitizers available into your school.

FOLLOW THE SIGNS
Entrance and exit are separated: follow the instructions provided by your school.

DOWNLOAD THE IMMUNI APP
If you are at least 14 years old, download it right now. The App allows detecting possible exposure to Covid-19.

KEEP THE DISTANCE
Avoid any crowding. Always keep at least one meter of distance from other people.

WEAR A FACE MASK
Always wear it if you are in movement or if you stay in common areas. When you are seated at the desk, if one meter distance is respected, you can take it off. For children under 6 years of age, it is not demanded.

GET INFORMED ABOUT HOW TO ACCESS
Only one accompanying person per student is allowed. You can find information on access rules on the school website.

On May 18th New Movement Regulations Go Into Effect

On the whole beginning on May 18 there will be no limitations set on movement withing a region. Nevertheless to contain the spread of COVID-19, local authorities have the option of limiting movements in specific areas of Italy.

Until June 2 movements from one region to another are still banned. One the whole one must stay put in the region where one is. The only valid motivations to go from one to another are: work with proper documentation, dire emergecies, health reasons. During this period you may go back to your official residence.

Beginning on June 3 you wil be able to move without any restrictions. This includes going from one region to another. Nevertheless to contain the spread of COVID-19, local authorities have the option of limiting movements in specific areas of Italy.

The gathering of people in public places or in areas open to the public is still banned. For further information on what is allowed, always consult the website of the region where you are or of the region where you would like to go.


Covid-19: May 4 – 18, 2020, New Rules and Limitations Will Go into Effect

The new Council of Ministers Decree of April 26th, 2020, will become effective for the period from May 4 th to May 18th further modifying rules and behavior to be adopted during the coronavirus state of emergency.

Is Social Distancing Still in Effect?

The compulsory one meter (3 feet) interpersonal safety distance remains in effect, as well as the recommendation to wear masks, use disposable gloves, and other personal protective equipment. It's obligatory to use masks when entering an enclosed space that is open to the public, this includes public transportation.

Is Circulation Permitted?

In addition to the previously stated reasons - work, health conditions, and questions of daily survival – circulation, limited to the Region where one resides, will be permitted to visit relatives. During the visit social distancing of at least one meter (3 feet), the use of a mask and a strict limitation of the number of people involved must be observed. Movement outside one's Region will be allowed only for work, health and emergency reasons. It's authorized to return to one's residence, domicile or dwelling.

For further information please contact each Region's COVID – 19 toll free number. If you are returning from another region, the Regional COVID – 19 toll free number must be contacted regarding the necessity of personal isolation and quarantine.

Can I Go to the Park?

Admission to parks, gardens and public villas is authorized if the one meter (3 feet) interpersonal social distance is respected. Playgrounds will remain closed. Mayors have the power to close these areas if, in their judgment, safety procedures cannot be properly enforced.

Can I Do Sports? Can I accompany a minor?

If the interpersonal social distance of at least two meters for sports and one meter for exercise is respected, sport and exercise activities are allowed for individuals, accompanied minors and accompanied not self-sufficient individuals.

Are Funerals and Religious Ceremonies Allowed?

Concerning religious ceremonies: funerals are allowed. Only first and second-degree relatives up to a total of 15 can participate. It's preferable to hold an outdoor function, to wear masks and respect the interpersonal safety distance of at least one meter (3 feet.)

Can I Go to a Restaurant or to a Fast Food?

Yes, but only to collect what you have ordered. Restaurant are open only for take-away delivery service or exclusively for the collection of take-away meals. The interpersonal safety distance must be respected, and it's not allowed to consume the meal inside the premises. 

What do I Do if I Have a Fever?

If before May 4 th the recommendation to those who had a 37.5 degrees fever and showed respiratory symptoms was to stay at home and call one's doctor, now it's compulsory to do so.

Is It Possible to Get a Prescription Online or by Cell Phone?

Yes, with theMarch 19, 2020, Ordinance you can now get the ‘Electronic Prescription Number’ from your doctor without having to pick it up. The pharmacist will fill out the prescription once he/she has received the Electronic Prescription Number and the Tax Identification Number from your Health Card.

Do the National Restrictive Measures Suspend Women Shelters' Activities?

No, women victims of violence and stalking must not feel abandoned, and can call the toll free helpline 1522, open 24/24. Furthermore according to the March 11, 2020 Decree, incidences of violence determine the 'State of necessity' that authorizes women to go to a women shelter.

Are There Initiatives to Give Psychological Assistance During this Period of Strain Due To the COVID – 19 Pandemic?

On April 27 the Health Ministry and Civil Protection Agency Toll Free Psychological Helpline 800.833.833 started operations. The Helpline can be reached from abroad at 02.20228733. It's open 7 days a week from 8am to Midnight. Assistive technologies will be available for the hearing impaired.

  • Which rules apply to persons travelling to Italy from March 28?
  1. Before boarding, the carrier's staff is required to check the self-certification (to download the form) setting out the following detailed information: the reasons for travelling to Italy (health needs, work requirements, reasons of absolute necessity), the place of self-isolation for 14 days, own or otherwise private means of transportation used to get to the place of self-isolation and a mobile/land phone number. The reasons of "absolute necessity" are as specified in the FAQs previously posted on the website.link al modulo 
  2. All persons entering Italy, whether at an airport, ferry port or railway station, must avoid using public transport and must therefore make arrangements to be picked up, take a taxi, if and as allowed, or hire a car, with or without a driver.   
  3. All persons entering Italy are required to self-isolate, including persons with their own transport. Persons travelling to Italy for work may postpone the start of the self-isolation period by 72 hours (which can be extended for a further 48 hours), albeit only if strictly necessary. 
  4. All persons entering Italy, including persons with their own transport, are required to report to the local health authorities on arrival at their destination. 
  5. All persons entering Italy may self-isolate either at home or other place of their choice.
  6. If a person entering Italy has no place for self-isolation, or is unable to travel to their place of self-isolation (if they have no-one to pick them up, if there are no available hotel rooms, etc.), they will be required to self-isolate at a location established by the Civil Protection Service, at the interested person's expense.
  7. The above rules do not apply to the following persons: cross-border workers, health services personnel, passenger/freight transport crews.

  • I'm an Italian expat or a foreign national resident in Italy, may I return to Italy?

Yes, but only for emergency reasons. For example, Italian nationals, or foreign nationals resident in Italy, who are abroad temporarily (for tourism, business or other reasons) are allowed to return to Italy. Italian nationals obliged to leave the foreign country where they were working or studying (because they've lost their job or home, or because the study programme they were attending has been suspended) are likewise allowed to return to Italy.

  • I'm a foreign national in Italy, may I return to my home country?

Yes, but only if it is absolutely necessary and observing the same conditions that apply to Italian nationals returning from abroad (see the FAQ). The temporary suspension of work, or switching to a home working arrangement, are not sufficient reasons for travelling. To declare the reasons for travelling to the border, Please use the self-certification form available at the Interior Ministry website. Before departing, you are advised to check the measures put into place in the country of destination to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and to contact your embassy in Italy as well.

  • I'm returning to Italy from abroad. May I ask someone to pick me up at the arrival airport, railway station or port?

Yes, but only one person living in the same home as you and possibly wearing protective equipment. This type of movement is considered a matter of the "utmost urgency" and indicated as such on the self-certification form that can be downloaded at the Interior Ministry website. The self-certification must be fully compiled and must specify the journey and the destination place of residence. You are obviously required to immediately report your return to the Prevention Department of the competent local health authority and shall be subject to health surveillance and self-isolation, and to promptly report the development of any symptoms of Covid-19 infection to the healthcare services




Movement rules

CORONAVIRUS: MOVEMENT AND TRAVELLING RESTRICTIONS

  1. CAN I MOVE OR TRAVEL AROUND ITALY?
    You cannot leave your house, except for valid reasons. Movement restrictions are the same in all Italian regions and are in force from 10 March to 3 April 2020. There will be checks by the police. There is an absolute ban on leaving your home for those who are quarantined or who tested positive for the virus. It is forbidden to use either public or private modes of transport to travel to a municipality other than the one in which you currently are, except for proven work needs, for an urgent necessity or for a health emergency. In case of symptoms of respiratory infection or fever above 37.5 degrees it is strongly recommended to stay at home, contact your doctor and limit all your contacts with others as much as possible.
  2. WHAT ARE THE ACCEPTED REASONS FOR LEAVING ONE'S HOME?
    You can leave the house to go to work, for health reasons or situations of need. To prove these needs, a self-declaration must be completed which can also be made sitting directly on the forms supplied to the police. The veracity of the declarations will be subject to subsequent checks.
  3. Can anyone who is away from home, home or residence come home?
    Yes, it being understood that then you can move only for work needs, situations of need and health reasons.
  4. If I live in one municipality and work in another, can I go back and forth?
    Yes, if it is a shift justified for business needs.
  5. CAN I USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?
    Yes, public and private transportation operate regularly. Check time schedules in your area.
  6. IS IT POSSIBLE TO GO BUY FOOD?
    Yes, and there is no need to grab them because the stores will always be supplied. There is no limitation on the transit of goods: all goods, therefore not only those of primary necessity, can circulate on the national territory.
  7. CAN YOU GO OUT TO BUY GOODS OTHER THAN FOOD?
    Yes, but only in case of strict necessity, therefore only for the purchase of goods related to primary needs that cannot be postponed.
  8. CAN I GO AND EAT WITH RELATIVES?
    No, because this is not a necessary movement and it is therefore not allowed. In addition, on weekends, public holidays and pre-holidays, as well as during days immediately preceding or following them, it is forbidden to travel to a secondary home, including to a second residence used for vacations.
  9. CAN I GO AND ASSIST MY ELDERLY RELATIVES WHO ARE NOT SELF-SUFFICENT?
    Yes. But remember that the elderly are the most vulnerable people and therefore try to protect them as much as possible from contacts.
  10. Is motor activity allowed outdoors?
    Access to parks, villas, playing areas and public gardens is prohibited. Playing outdoor and recreational activities are also not permitted. Sports and physical activities carried out in open spaces are allowed if a 1-metre distance between individuals is respected and only in the vicinity of one's home. In any case, gatherings must be avoided.
  11. CAN I TAKE MY DOG OUT?
    Yes, for the daily management of its physiological needs and for veterinary checks.
  12. WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO DON'T RESPECT THESE GUIDELINES?
    Violations of these provisions are punished with an administrative sanction up to 3,000 euros. Tougher penalties may also be imposed for behaviours consituting criminal offences and serious violations of the law.
